Ever since Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark didn’t get a nomination for the Best Musical Tony award, they’ve been amping up the gimmick machine to get some press for the show.
*First, they announced a special Tony Sunday performance for which anyone with the first name Anthony, Tony, Antonio, Antoinette, Toni, or Antonia would be eligible to receive a free ticket.
That’s one way to fill the show with Tonys, as they noted.
*Then came the release: “Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark welcomes one-millionth audience member on Wednesday May 16″
*And most recently:
“Spider-Man Turn off the Dark celebrates America’s real heroes and their families with ‘Spider-Man Hero Seats’. U.S. Armed services, police, EMS, and firefighters eligible for special hero price.”
And while they’re there, the EMS workers can cart injured performers to…Kidding! That’s an old joke!
Congrats, flacks. That old showboater David Merrick would have been proud.
