For those who share Tim Burton’s gothic sensibilities, Cirkus Cirkör from Sweden has a dark new show, Wear it like a crown, which looks back on those good ol’ days of traveling sideshows when knife-throwing, daring acrobatics, and mime were considered major entertainment. But because we are, of course, in the 21st century, director Tilde Björfors spices up the traditional circus acts with slick contemporary artsiness to tell not one but six interlocking stories of dreamers and their fantasies. Norwegian chanteuse Rebekka Karijord adds her chamber pop to the mix. For what it’s worth, we hear it’s huge in Stockholm.
