Cycling competitions usually award the rider, not the bike. But the eighth annual Bicycle Fetish Day is a block party at which your trusty two-wheel companion can feel special, too. Picture it: You and your bike happy together, chowing down on barbecue while admiring BMX tricks and chatting it up with bicycle-advocacy groups and other fun-loving bikes and their owners. Even if your bike is shy, don’t let it miss out on the big competition, with prizes given out in a variety of categories (including Best Vintage Bike, Best Handmade Bike, Best Ugly Bike, Best Mutant Bike, and Best in Show) from participating shops, such as Outlier Tailored Performance, Velo Brooklyn-Bushwick Bike Shop, and Affinity Cycles. The celebration wraps with an after-party in City Reliquary’s backyard. Just make sure your ride doesn’t get too drunk.
