Kiddie-Porn Suspect Faces More Prison Time Than A “Depraved Sex Fiend” Who Sexually Assaulted 85-Year-Old Woman

The United States Attorney’s Office just sent us the criminal complaint for a man who was arrested this morning after federal agents found several images and videos of kiddie porn on his computer. If convicted, the suspect, 55-year-old convicted sex offender Jay Kroll, faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison.

We have no problem with sending a convicted sex offender to prison for 15 years because he pervs out on kiddie porn. However, 15 years in prison is the same sentence “depraved sex fiend” Jeffrey Ritter received — and he forced an 85-year-old woman to give him a blowjob.

Kroll’s got a little baggage in the perv department, too — according to the complaint, Kroll was convicted in 1993 of second-degree sodomy in a case involving an 11-year-old boy. Kroll did about six years in prison before his release in 1999.

In December of 2011, Kroll was arrested in a suburb of Rochester for
failing to register as a sex offender. At the time, Kroll had a job
selling children’s toys.

Currently, Kroll lives with his mother on Long Island, which is where authorities found his stash of (gulp) child erotica.

According to the complaint, federal authorities were combing peer-to-peer file-sharing networks looking for perverts downloading kiddie porn. During the investigation, authorities tracked kiddie-porn downloads to an IP address registered to Kroll’s mother.

One of the titles of the videos and images found on Kroll’s computer is “Crimea 2 12Yo Suck Fuck…,” a video that shows four young boys (between the ages of 11 and 16) hiking. They then get naked and perform oral sex on each other, according to the complaint.

Following his arrest, Kroll admitted to authorities that he watched kiddie porn and that he was attracted to boys between the ages of 9 and 11. He told police he watched kiddie porn to satisfy an “urge,” and to keep himself from doing what he’d done in the past (molest children).

Again, for simply possessing kiddie porn, Kroll faces more prison time than Ritter, who physically forced an elderly woman to perform oral sex on him. Call us crazy, but there seems to be something terribly wrong when a guy who simply possessed child smut is facing more prison time than a guy who actually hurt someone. That’s not to say Kroll should get less than 15 years in prison — if you ask us, Kroll can’t be helped and it’s time to throw away the key. But Ritter apparently can’t be helped, either — and he’ll be out of prison before he turns 50, when he’ll be free to become a thrice convicted violent sex offender.

*Note: Kroll also faces a misdemeanor charge of sexual abuse for allegedly feeling up a 14-year-old boy while living in the Rochester area. For that alleged crime, Kroll faces additional punishment. The 15-year mandatory minimum prison sentence is only for possessing kiddie-porn.
