New York

Jacques Barzun famously said, “Whoever wants to know the heart and mind of America had better learn baseball. . . .to which we add, “Start with your local minor league teams!” New Yorkers are really lucky to have two first-class minor league teams—the Brooklyn Cyclones and Staten Island Yankees—only a subway ride away. Both are coming off great seasons in hot competition with each other: The Baby Bombers beat the Cyclones in playoff semifinals to take the NY Penn League while the Cyclones finished a half a game out in second place. But they will be looking for revenge! Baseball doesn’t get any better than this.
