We hope you like bagels. As a tribute to New York City, the 20th annual Tropfest short-film festival from Australia has made it a rule this year that all of its filmmakers must somehow find a way to incorporate the spherical-shaped bread into their work. Tonight, see the results when the eight finalists show their films in Bryant Park. Keeping it Aussie, Hugh Jackman will host the show, with live music by Doveman, Alexi Murdoch, and Milagres. Judges Rose Byrne, Judah Friedlander, Jennifer Westfeldt, Ted Hope, and Scott Foundas will proclaim the $20,000 grand-prize winner. Tropfest started at the Tropicana Caffe in Sydney and is credited for launching the movie careers of such well-known Australians as Joel Edgerton and Sam Worthington. Perhaps a star (or, at least, a new use for bagels) will be born tonight.
