Release your inner ballerina (and belly dancer and Broadway star and burlesque vixen . . .) because it’s time for NYC Dance Week. The 10-day event offers free and discounted classes at some of New York’s premier dance and fitness studios (think the Ailey Extension and Power Pilates). Whether your thing is Pan-American Indigenous dance or tango, there are opportunities for dancers of every skill level and interest. Workshops and interviews focusing on health and dance as a career will take place throughout the week as well, and don’t miss the NYC10 performance, where up-and-coming dance troupes are given 10 minutes each to showcase their best work. It’s a festival that will be good to your body and to your wallet.
Mondays-Sundays, noon. Starts: June 21. Continues through June 30, 2012
