SummerStage’s annual visit to Crotona Park is one of the highlights of summer in the Bronx, a week of sun, barbecue, and music, much of which originally came from the surrounding neighborhoods. Last year, Slick Rick and Brucie B rocked a crowd that spanned generations, bringing together everyone from hip-hop originator DJ Kool Herc to kids young enough to be his grandchildren, and now two more legends—Kurtis Blow and Chubb Rock—intend to do the same. The show starts at 7, but come early to spend time anywhere on the park’s 127 acres. The weather will probably be too warm for Blow’s “Christmas Rappin’,” but we aren’t complaining.
