Welcome to this year’s launch of 100 Dishes to Eat Now, the tasty countdown leading up to our “Best of 2012” issue. Tune in each day (weekends too!) for a new dish from the Fork in the Road team.
Jersey Cow Sandwich ($8)
William Imre sells simple, but carefully composed sandwiches out of his New Jersey food truck, Home by the Range, and makes appearances at Smorgasburg and the New Amsterdam Market, too. The Jersey Cow is a locavore’s fantasy of an Italian-style beef sandwich: huge pieces of tender chuck roast that can barely hold themselves together, with creamy white cheddar, and bright giardiniera, Italian-style pickled vegetables–the beef is from Simply Grazin Organic Farm, and the cheese from Milton Creamery. Let the sarnie sit for a few minutes, and the bread will soak up all of those delicious beef juices.
