Bluegrass veteran McCoury, 73, doesn’t require any great reason to rock a crowd: Last year I saw him win over a roomful of Hollywood hipsters at a Grammy-week event where he jammed with Dierks Bentley and Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys. Tonight, though, he and his sidemen are tasked with paying tribute to the late banjo master Earl Scruggs, who died in March. Expect fireworks.
