Vermin Supreme, Movie Star? Campaign Raises Cash for Documentary on ‘Friendly Fascist’

Minneapolis filmmaker Stephen Onderick has started a Kickstarter campaign to fund a feature-length doc on Vermin Supreme, the “tyrant you can trust,” whose presidential platform includes free ponies for all Americans and zombie preparedness.

(Read our interview with Supreme here.)

Onderick, who has shot a fair amount of shorts on Minneapolis’ Occupy protests, wants to look at the “firebrand and political prankster” — and what he’s done over the last 30 years — in a project called “Who Is Vermin Supreme?”

In its first 24 hours, the campaign has received over $1,000 in pledges — 19 percent of its $10,000 goal.

Onderick he plans on following Supreme to the Democrat and Republican conventions this fall, using that footage and archival recordings to track chronicle his political development.

This wouldn’t be the first film on Vermin. Vice did put together a brief vid on Supreme earlier this year, and he also starred in Vote Jesus.

We reached out to Onderick for more details. We’ll update when we hear back!
