Homophobic Cereal Arsonist Michael Leisner Drops Dead Watching Sons Play Tennis

Remember a few weeks ago when a Minnesota man nearly lit himself on fire while protesting gay marriage by burning a box of Honey Nut Cheerios in front of the General Mills factory? Regardless, he’s dead.

Michael Leisner suffered a “massive heart attack” on Saturday while sitting in his car waiting for his two sons to finish playing tennis. He died on the spot, according to local media reports.

Leisner achieved Youtube (ahem) fame a few weeks ago when he posted a video of himself lighting the Cheerios on fire with a blowtorch.

“One out of every eight boxes of cereal in this country is Cheerios. This is really the treat now for the homosexuals,” Leisner said in the video uploaded to YouTube.

The demonstration was in protests of General Mills CEO Ken Powell’s support of gay rights.

The stunt went horribly wrong, and ended with Leisner nearly setting himself on fire. After setting a small fire in front of the factory, Leisner and his homophobic buddies retreated…in a hurry.

The video went viral, and ended up as fodder for the likes of Jon Stewart and Chelsea Handler. It has since been removed from Youtube (within the last 15 hours — it could still be viewed last night).

Leisner was a “Christian,” and taught the Bible on the radio, as well as posting homophobic rants on the Internet.

Scott Christian Leisner, one of his nephews, wrote on his Facebook page that his uncle was “bold as a lion for God” and will be remembered as a “flaming Elijah with the boldness of John the Baptist.”

Perhaps “flaming” isn’t the best adjective.

In any event, Michael Leisner: dead at 65.
