What’s Happening This Week: Tomato Festival, $2 Taco Tuesday


Tuesday, August 21
Taco Tuesday. Tequileria Maya has taco special where guests can feast on $2 tacos. The offerings: al pastor pork taco with caramelized pineapple and the smoked brisket taco with avocado, creamy chile slaw, and pickled onion.

Wednesday, August 22
Tequila Tasting at Maya. Starting at 5pm, tequila librarian Courtenay Greenleaf will be hosting a weekly Tequila tasting that showcases her favorite labels every week. Guests are encouraged to sample featured Tequila Tasting Flights ($15), specially priced snifters, and cocktails throughout the night.

Thursday, August 23
Lunch on Pier 16. The South Street Seaport Museum and New Amsterdam Market will bring together some vendors to Pier 16, just a few blocks south of the regular market site, for a mid-week fix. Participating vendors include Lonestar Taco, Black Tree Sandwich, Luke’s Lobster, P&H Soda, Porchetta, La Newyorkina, People’s Pops. The hours are 11 am to 7 pm.

Sunday, August 26
Tomato Festival at New Amsterdam Market. Ticketed attendees will taste and rate multiple varieties of heirloom and non-GMO tomatoes and sample creations from more than ten of NYC’s “underground” and “above ground” chefs. Tickets can be purchased here.
