Choppy post-punk bands are in no short supply in Los Angeles these days, as the members of Dunes could tell you. This fuzzy, jangly trio formed after Stephanie Chan, Katelyn Hall, and Mark Greshowak left the old groups they used to play in (including the now-defunct Mika Miko), and the recent music video for their song “Tied Together” featured cameos by folks from No Age and Abe Vigoda. That said, Dunes bring enough tunes on this year’s Noctiluca to stand out from the pack. “Tied Together” even lifts a sweet little hook from “Mandy” by Barry Manilow. Tonight, they take part in the New Museum’s “Get Weird” series along with Brooklyn’s Household.
