A customer is suing Hooters after an employee of the chain labeled him “Chinx” on a receipt.
Kisuk Cha was dining with his girlfriend in Fresh Meadows and filed a complaint in the Brooklyn federal court stating that the incident lead him to become “shocked, stunned, mortified, humiliated, and severely distressed.”
According to court papers filed by Cha’s lawyer:
“He wanted to confront his server but sat paralyzed with anguish. He could not eat the food he had just bought as his stomach was churning and he could not be sure that someone did not spit in his food. . . . He does not feel welcome at Hooters and indeed questions whether he is welcomed at any non-Korean establishments.”
The employee has since resigned and Hooters is maintaining that this was an isolated incident. The lawsuit seeks unspecified monetary damages.
