And you might well respond, “Well, he’s given plenty of singers breakdowns with his harsh commentary!”
But that wouldn’t be very compassionate, would it?
A far nicer approach would be to realize that the pressure of working on X Factor has been enormous, and at the start of the summer, when Simon missed filming on the auditions, it was apparently because of “nervous exhaustion,” not the officially stated reason, bronchitis.
Simon has reportedly said, “I desperately need peace. I’m craving normality. I’ve got to work out my demons and come out of it.”
(A familiar cry from lots of people I know.)
It’s all due to the pressures of being a big figure with a crazy schedule. (Ask Susan Boyle, who went through something similar after she she “dreamed a dream” and it came true.)
But here’s a word to the wise:
It’s when you’re not a big figure that the breakdowns really begin.
