I usually like Rupert Everett.
He’s a fine actor, and when he speaks as himself, he’s usually frank and witty and says things that go against the grain, which you have to admire the sheer chutzpah of.
But he’s done a baddie this time.
Rupert told London’s Sunday Times magazine:
“I can’t think of anything worse than being brought up by two gay dads….Some people might not agree with that. Fine! That’s just my opinion.”
Um, I don’t agree with that.
I mean nothing worse?
How about straight parents who hit you, abuse you, and treat you like crap?
There’s been no evidence that gay parenting is in any way damaging to kids any more than any other type of parents intrinsically are. Except from a gay actor!!!
“I’m not speaking on behalf of the gay community,” adds Rupert.
“In fact, I don’t feel like I’m part of any ‘community’. The only community I belong to is humanity and we’ve got too many children on the planet, so it’s good not to have more.”
Oh, OK. So why not tell straight people not to have any more?
When gays want some, there’s suddenly an overcrowding problem?
And don’t a lot of gays adopt anyway? Isn’t that helping the overcrowding situation?
But like I said, I like Rupert.
