How to Lend a Helping Hand During Post-Sandy Recovery [Updated]

Here are some ways to help with Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts:

  • The Bowery Mission is looking for help through their Twitter feed.
  • You can donate Blood.
  • In Red Hook, food is being distributed in three areas. If you have any spare goods, some of these spots are also taking donations.
  • Donate clothing at CAAAV in Chinatown.
  • BRIC has resources for musicians and artists following the storm.
  • From Iridium Jazz Club: They are collecting non-perishables to deliver to The Rockaways tonight (November 2nd) and tomorrow. They are collecting at Ellen’s Stardust Diner at 51st & Broadway.
  • Time Out New York and New York Magazine both have lists on how to help as well.

UPDATE: WNYC has a good list of places to volunteer.

FURTHER UPDATES: New Amsterdam Market is spearheading a clean-up of the Front Street area, badly hit by Sandy, including the market offices and surrounding businesses beginning at noon on Sunday. Gloves, food, and water will be provided to volunteers.
