The guitar-thwacking virtuoso’s updated Windham Hill renovations are in full effect on her sixth album, Glow, King’s first all-instrumental release since her 2002 debut. This artistic reboot recapitulates her basic technical vocabulary—fiery string fanning, dazzling fingerpicking, fretboard tapping, etc. —with ideas from the realms of classical and “world” music. Tastefully outside and often quite charming, King remains queen of the crossover acoustic-guitar speed trials. With Lady Lamb the Beekeeper.
