Mike Bloomberg Considers Extending Gas Rationing Through Next Week

by

On the cusp of one of the busiest travel days of the year, Mayor Mike Bloomberg says he’s considering extending gas rationing…er, the “temporary gasoline management plan,” through next week.

“Some people say Thanksgiving is coming up,” the mayor said on his weekly radio show.

“A lot of people drive and fill up their cars. Maybe we should have it go another week. I’m going to think about that today.”

“All I can tell you is when we put it in, the lines started to ease. It certainly hasn’t hurt.”

“If it in the end protects you, why not run it for another five days?”

He
went on to say that “all I can tell you is that when we put [gas
rationing] in [place], the lines started to ease. It certainly hasn’t
hurt.”

Of course, that’s assuming you don’t need gas on a day that
doesn’t correspond with the numbers on your license plate — or you’re
chauffeured around town in NYPD SUVs.

Gas rationing went into effect last week as a “temporary” solution to the city’s gas shortage.

New
Jersey and Long Island ended their gas rationing policy this week. New
York City, however, hasn’t figured out how to get more gas into the Big
Apple, which seemingly is as simple as bringing more gas into the Big
Apple.

Apparently not.

We have no idea what’s keeping
much-needed gas out of New York City. Regardless, you might want to fill
up today — assuming your license plate ends in an even number.
