Metal songs—at least the truly epic ones—could never keep themselves contained to only three minutes, what with all the demons a proper guitar solo has to summon and requisite hair-flowing headbangs. But that’s not stopping a collection of music-obsessed writers from telling the Greatest 3-Minute Metal Stories Ever. Hosted by Volume 1 Brooklyn as part of its “3-Minute Story” series and doubling as a release event for the hair-metal anthology Hair Lit, readers such as Brandon Stosuy (Pitchfork), Laina Dawes (author of What Are You Doing Here? A Black Woman’s Life and Liberation in Heavy Metal), and Kory Grow (author of Heavy Metal: From Hard Rock to Extreme Metal) will share their fast-and-furious memories of the genre. Let’s hope Satan can make an appearance.
