Chez Sardine is an izakaya set against a menu featuring things like a foie gras and smoked cheddar grilled cheese sandwich. 183 W. 10th St.
Mexican-inspired Xixa opened in Williamsburg, and is the sister of Traif, aptly named for its pork and shellfish. Xixa (hilariously pronounced “Shiksa”, which is slang for a non-Jewish woman) serves cheese-dipped, deep-fried squash blossoms and incorporates Thai spices. Louro in the West Village is the newest project from David Santos, formerly the executive chef at Griffou. Santos started a Kickstarter campaign and raised $10,000 to help fund renovations to the space that used to house Lowcountry. 142 W. 10th St.
