It all makes perfect sense.
After all, I was at the original Studio 54–a LOT.
And I always defended the joys of disco music as others argued that it signaled the destruction of civilization. And were still here!
So I’m throwing a Disco Extravaganza at 54 Below–the jazzily renovated lower level of the legendary club–and I will even take the stage under force. (Meaning I’m forcing them.)
I’ll be singing “I Will Survive,” “The Last Dance,” and more classics, backed by a hot band called Elektrik Company, plus downtown legends Snooky and Tish doing all sorts of hand and vocal gestures, in addition to funky solos.
And Tony nominee slash vocal powerhouse Orfeh will hit the stage for a sizzling number too! I’m beside myself.
And this time everyone at 54 will only be on prescription drugs.
