The master drummer’s arrival in Gowanus is sure to shake up a few minds, and it’s been a while since he was in the middle of saxophone trio (all hail Dave Holland’s Triplicate). He’s an expert at everything from rumbles to flutters, and the amount of artistic energy that ripples from his bandstands takes a sec to digest. Teamed with bassist Matt Garrison and horn player Ravi Coltrane, there’ll be sparks for sure. And if they truly catch the magic, it might just tilt towards majesty.
