Tegan & Sara

The sheer fact that they are Canadian lesbian identical twins who both play guitar, keyboards, and write songs sounds almost too “edgy” to be true, but Tegan & Sara are far from gimmicky. Started in 1995, the sisters quickly moved on from cult “tampon rock” status thanks to steady touring (with names like Neil Young) and musical maturation. Channeling 1980s power pop into their infectious oversized choruses, Tegan & Sara amp up acoustic rock with some electro sensibilities that makes them hard to place—and hard to hate.
