As curated by minimalist maestro Philip Glass, the annual multiculti mixture that is the Tibet House Benefit usually includes at least one card wild enough to give pause for a Carnegie Hall event. This year, that honor goes to lo-fi pop subversive Ariel Pink, who has already suggested assigning Glass a washboard for a possible collaboration. My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James, on the other hand, arrives on the heels of a literally divine solo album, Regions of Light and the Sound of God, which should put him in cosmos-rocking attunement with benefit mainstay Patti Smith. The lineup also includes Tibetan singer-flutist Tenzin Choegyal, afro-folk minimalist tUnE-yArDs, beatbox brahman Rahzel, and This American Life creator (and Philip’s first cousin once removed) Ira Glass.
