While some may miss the deadpan genius of, say, Norm MacDonald, or the inimitable duo of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, even the most ardent traditionalists must admit Seth Meyers holds his own as the current anchor of SNL’s Weekend Update. It’s a tough job he performs at the Rainbow Room, juggling the likes of Stefon and Drunk Uncle, along with sitting as the show’s head writer. Meyer’s uncanny blend of satire, wordplay, and the absurd places him in a unique category of comedy that rides the line between delightfully offensive and painfully true. Tonight, the former improv actor takes a break from his chair at Weekend Update to sit down with New York Times television writer Bill Carter to discuss Meyers’s life and career.
