Kale-essi Tastings at Chez Khalessi
Chez Khalessi, the new Game of Thrones-themed bar in Dumbo, already serves King Joffrey Juice and Sansa Screwdrivers. But the pub recently added new items to the dinner menu, and will be serving a “Kale-essi” tasting on Monday night, as a tribute to last night’s premiere. Taste fresh raw kale — forget dressings or seasoning — from seven different community gardens around the city for just $50.
Sriracha Run in Bushwick
During the Color Run, joggers get doused in color paints and powder as they run a 5K for charity. But in Bushwick, dutiful runners have organized a Sriracha Run that starts at midnight at the L train at Jefferson Ave. Runners are instructed to bring a bottle of Sriracha and squirt it on fellow participants until their bottles run out (avoid aiming at eyes). Registration is $40 and all proceeds will be donated to a charity of the organizers’ choosing.
Bake & Bacon Grand Opening
Bake & Bacon, the new bacon-only bakery in the West Village, will host a grand opening celebration on Monday. Its owners will give away free treats from noon until midnight. Think bacon cupcakes (layered grilled bacon smothered with creamed bacon), bacon ice cream (frozen bacon “icing” topped with crumbled bacon), bacon macarons (pureed bacon sandwiched between two strips of bacon), and bacon doughnuts (circular strips of bacon wrapped in bacon).
Tour of Olde Gowanus Brewery
Take a tour of the Olde Gowanus Brewery from 6 – 8 p.m. on Monday night. The brewery overlooks the Gowanus Canal, and uses water from the canal to brew it beer. Tour-goers will get the chance to try out the new arcade game machines and volleyball courts O’Sheiss is installing this afternoon. For $50, guests will taste Sheiss Weiss Dunkel, the brewery’s first beer.
