Iconic American fashion designer Norma Kamali helped revolutionize the styles of the ’70s and ’80s. Remember Farrah Fawcett’s infamous red bathing suit? That was a Kamali design. The popularization of the shoulder pads? Yup, that was Kamali, too. But aside from fashion, Kamali has always been a vocal advocate on women’s issues, most recently on her SiriusXM radio show. At tonight’s panel, “Hey Baby: Empowering Women Through Fashion,” the designer leads an open discussion on the ins and outs of modeling, specifically focusing on the person behind the pretty face we see in photos, aiming to prove that “all women are more than the way they look.”
