REBEL REBEL

by

Nearly 20 years ago, Sister Spit started as an all-female open mic in San Francisco during the heady days of the riot grrrl movement. Still going strong, it’s now an annual traveling queer/feminist variety show hosted by poet and co-founder Michelle Tea (who, by the way, has a great blog on xoJane about her path to pregnancy via a sperm donor). Today, she pulls the Sister Spit van up to the New Museum for a provocative afternoon of works by poets, singers, novelists, and performance artists. On the bill are Ali Liebegott (author of The IHOP Papers), Cristy C. Road (Indestructible), Australian Magic Marker artist TextaQueen, Daniel LéVesque (Hairdresser on Fire), and DavEnd (whom you may have seen in Taylor Mac’s The Lily’s Revenge).
