The Story of Streit’s Matzo on the Lower East Side

Over on Kickstarter, filmmaker Michael Levine of Rivington Pictures is looking to raise $60,000 to fund a feature-length documentary that will tell the story of Streit’s Matzo, a fifth-generation matzo factory founded in 1925 on the Lower East Side. The company is one of the few culinary landmarks of its era that remains, but it’s also a successful food business. Watch the video below to see scenes with the founder’s family, the owner, and various factory workers–one of whom calls making matzo there the “best job in the world.”
