Boston Shutdown Snarls Penn Station


With Boston in a full lock-down due to the ongoing manhunt for the surviving suspect in Monday’s marathon bombings, travelers throughout the northeast found themselves facing delays and cancellations today.

The Voice‘s Robert Sietsema was in Penn Station this afternoon, and reported that travelers on Amtrak were being told that service to Boston was cancelled due to a “police action.” They were directed to the Port Authority for bus service. That advice may not have been helpful, however, as bus lines including Bolt Bus, Megabus, Greyhound and Peter Pan have all cancelled or altered their service to and from Boston. Logan airport is open and continuing to operate.

Robert noted that strengely, given deceased bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s career as an amateur boxer, stranded travelers at Penn Station were treated to a promotional boxing match on the Amtrak level:
