Xi’an Famous Foods’ new Midtown location had a soft opening on Thursday according to Midtown Lunch, which spotted a now-deleted post on the chain’s Facebook page. Xi’an wrote, “We are having a soft opening at midtown 24 w. 45th… this message will self destruct in 15 mins…” Customers who couldn’t make it yesterday will have to wait until Monday for the grand opening. Hector Sanz opened Melibea in Greenwich Village on Monday. The new venture is right next door to his year-old Barraca. Dig Inn‘s sixth location opened on Hudson Street this morning. The mini-chain of rice bowls and salads will serve its usual dishes: spicy meatballs with sides of roasted bok choy and local Brussels sprouts, and organic sesame tofu with broccoli and quinoa salads. Smorgasburg co-founders Eric Demby and Jonathan Butler are looking to plant a flag near the South Street Seaport this season, according to DNAinfo. Brooklyn Flea will open 40 tables and a 497-seat outdoor beer garden on Front Street between Beekman and Fulton Streets on Memorial Day Weekend. “Smorgasbar” will also open on top of two large shipping containers.
