Why Joel McHale Used A Butt Double

Joel McHale is the comely and humorous fellow from Community and The Soup–the one who’s cute, wry, and nimbly able to poke fun at himself (and others).

But despite his shapely body, Joel used a butt double in the film What’s Your Number?, so he was asked by Advocate‘s Brandon Voss just why. (I’m glad we have gay media to pose important questions like this. I’m serious.)

Joel’s reply:

“Because they didn’t give me any advance notice! All of a sudden on set they were like, ‘Hey, you wanna do this?’ No. You have to pay for this ass, my friend.”

I guess I’ll wait for the boxed set.

Some of Joel’s other amusing answers:

What’s the best way for a straight guy to handle getting hit on by a gay guy? “Just a very quick, courteous blowjob.”

On the topic of some people thinking he’s gay because he dresses well: “Oh, I still see that on Twitter every day. It’s flattering. I always find it really weird when guys flip out over someone thinking they might be gay. If a guy gets offended by that, there’s something’s wrong with him. I take it as a compliment.”

And on his dude crushes: “Ooh, boy, I have so many. Josh Gad. Brian Williams. Patrick Stewart. Nathan Fillion. Kobe Bryant. Chaz Bono.”

Love me some of those.
