Is it possible for a lineup to be too good? Actually, yes. Crowd a night with too many DJs, no matter how good they might be, and they’ll often have trouble connecting with the crowd, playing hits rather than developing a rhythm. But that’s a risk you’re going to have to take when Red Bull Music Academy stuffs Santos Party House with club G.O.A.T.’s from around the country for tonight’s United States of Bass: Scottie B from Baltimore, Magic Mike from Miami, Egyptian Lover from L.A., Big Freedia from New Orleans, DJ Assault from Detroit, DJs Spinn and Rashad from Chicago, and our own Afrika Bambaataa. All have been recruited to fill the Chinatown venue with the kind of bass that hits you in the chest and drops you to the floor.
