Happy Wednesday, New York City. Need something to get you through the rest of your Hump Day afternoon? Here’s a pair of specials that might help.
Broadway Bakes at Schmackary’s, 362 West 45th Street
If it’s about time in your day for a sugary pick-me-up and you happen to be in or near Hell’s Kitchen, you might consider stepping over to Schmackary’s, where you’ll find a gaggle of Broadway stars behind the counter serving up baked goods for a good cause. From 3 until 6 p.m. every day for the rest of the week, cast members from productions like Kinky Boots, Newsies and Peter and the Starcatcher will work the counter at the cookie shop, and half of all proceeds plus all tips will go straight to the coffers of Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS, an organization that raises funds and makes grants to fight HIV and AIDS.
German and Belgian Beer Night at Top Hops, 94 Orchard Street
If something boozy is more your speed, head down to the Lower East Side where Top Hops — a beer shop and bar space with more than a dozen taps and hundreds of bottles — is hosting a German and Belgian beer night. The space will tap Jever and Gaffel, both ideal sippers for a muggy evening like this one, and Dentergems, and brewery representatives will be on hand to chat between 7 and 9 p.m.
