When that paper hits the streets, you’ll find our picks for the very best this city has to offer when it comes to dozens of cuisines, restaurants, dishes and drinks. Until then, you can get a taste of our contenders as we count down, in no particular order, our 100 favorite dishes from around the boroughs, a list of laudable eats worth tracking down right now.

#98: Cookie Monster ice cream from Malu

We’re unabashedly obsessed with our ice cream here at Fork in the Road, which is why we’ll trek to any neighborhood in any borough to find a solid scoop. Lucky for us, Malu, a small parlor tucked into a space next to a Long Island City convenience store, is just a short 7 train ride away. The creamery turns out dozens of worthy flavors–some of which are customer suggestions–that range from classic vanilla to baklava to blueberry honey graham cracker. We’re most partial to the Cookie Monster: powdery chocolate wafers and crunchy chocolate chip cookies are crushed into an ethereally creamy base that’s ribboned with soft hot fudge and studded with more chocolate chips. You’re going to want at least a double.
