HIS GENERATION

Adderall, Ambien, LSD, MDMA, Xanax—those are just a few of the substances tried by the young capricious couple in Tao Lin’s new book, Taipei, which is being touted as his most autobiographical to date. The story concerns a Brooklyn writer and scenester as he embarks on a book tour, reconnects with his roots in Taiwan, finds love online, and gets hitched in Vegas. In its starred review of the book, Publishers Weekly said, “Yet for all its emotional reality, Taipei is a book without an ounce of self-pity, melodrama, or posturing, making the glacial Lin the perfect poster child for a generation 
facing—and failing to face—maturity.” Tonight, Lin (Shoplifting From American Apparel, Richard Yates) discusses the book with Christian Lorentzen, editor at The London Review of Books.
