STROKE IT OUT

by

The folks at the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy call kayaking “human-powered boats,” and with the park’s free kayaking and rowing programs, they hope to promote both the environment and safe public access to the Brooklyn waterfront. Since the boathouse’s inaugural season in 2010, they have put more than 10,000 people into boats on the East River. The lines may sometimes be long, but it’s worth the wait as the views are breathtaking and, after all, manning your own boat on East River is a bit out of the ordinary.

Saturdays, 10 a.m., 5:30 & 6:45 p.m.; Saturdays, 3 p.m. Starts: July 20. Continues through Sept. 1, 2013
