Slideluck. It’s like a gallery that comes to you, and brings heaps of delicious food with
it. Shortened from the former “Slideluck Potshow,” this community tradition is exactly what its transposed title suggests. Local artists submit visual work for a live slideshow, and local chefs provide fare for the accompanying potluck (and these are no small potatoes—in 2010 records were broken with 479 individual dishes). The nonprofit has hosted events in cities all over the world, from Oslo to Nairobi; the featured work is then archived to create a global art community online. Tonight, the organization celebrates a permanent home in Bushwick. In this special housewarming edition it will try to top the first Bushwick show in 2011 with more art and food from nearby restaurants. The stakes are high—one lucky participant will be selected for
a solo exhibition at the Living Gallery.
