What’d Nas say? The real rap comes at halftime? He had no idea: Four years after the release of Illmatic, DJ Eclipse of the Rock Steady Crew and Crooklyn Clan don DJ Riz debuted their Halftime Show, breaking artists and broadcasting the sound of the streets over WNYU’s 89.1 FM, and 15 years after that, they’re coming to nearby Le Poisson Rouge to celebrate their crystal anniversary. The best part? These guys are some of the best live DJs going, and if you don’t believe us, feel free to check out Riz’s recent “Live at the Rub” set, or trust the taste of the openers, producer DJ Premier and Stretch Armstrong, another former radio host who is nice in the club.
