Last time Vampire Weekend played here, the band was at Roseland, promoting the release of their remarkable new Modern Vampires of the City and calling out Steve Buscemi as a special guest. This time, the venue, BK’s Barclays Center, is even bigger, and the guests—openers Solange and Sky Ferreira, a strange pair until you remember that both also released music with VW producer Ariel Rechtshaid—are bigger, too. And that album still sounds great, rocking harder than the bands’ two previous LPs while remaining as vexing as either of them. Next time you hear lead single “Diane Young,” see if you can make it through the hook without singing along to Ezra Koenig’s distorted vocals. I’ve yet to see it done.
