Best Skateboard Shop

Reciprocal Skateboards and Pinball bears the hallmark of any serious skateboard shop: It hardly advertises its presence. It resides inconspicuously on an anonymous block of 11th Street in the East Village, hidden behind curtains—almost like a modern speakeasy. Along one interior wall, there’s an art installation of used and abused boards. You can almost hear rails screeching, wood scraping on concrete. You’ll find all the gear and all the fashion a skateboarder might seek. Even better is the surprise behind the curtain: a half-dozen vintage pinball machines, carefully restored. You get your quarters at the register. Writes one Facebook fan: “This ain’t a skate shop, this is a home for cool ass people that apparently sells cool ass skate supplies.”
