Brooklyn-based indie-folk-pop singer/songwriter Julia Weldon is on the cusp of some big things happening. Her new album, Light Is a Ghost is a dynamic followup to her 2008 self-titled debut. Produced by Saul MacWilliams (Ingrid Michaelson, Dan Romer) and featuring Adam Christgau (Sia, Tegan and Sara) on drums, the album showcases Weldon’s storytelling, voice, and unmistakable charisma. It’s rare to hear an artist be as refreshingly honest as Weldon is on Ghost. The album captures the feel of the open road on a late summer evening, while ruminating on past relationships that creep into that serenity. The album’s first single, “Careful in the Dark,” chugs nicely along, and the corners of the song are painted with a Bon Iver/Cat Power/Elliott Smith kinda vibe. Along with our partners at ZUUS, we’re happy to bring you the exclusive premiere of the video after the jump. Weldon performs an official CMJ showcase tonight (Wednesday) at Alphabet Lounge and a few other times throughout the week. Check her site for more details.
