From the creepy to the camp, horror movies are the Halloween-loving grown-up’s simplest way to get into the spirit of the season, and Nitehawk is doing ’em up right. A Night to Dismember screens selections to cover each pentagram point of the genre—the werewolf, the witch, the vampire, the slasher, and the zombie. We can’t wait to revisit the horny teens and feathered hair of Tom Holland’s original Fright Night (1985) or the capitalist nightmare that unfolds in George Romero’s Dawn of the Dead (1978). Hosts Kris Kang and Sam Zimmerman of Fangoria keep the party going all night with costume contests, trivia, and adult candy (that is, themed cocktails like “There Will Be Blood” and “Gorilla Carnage”). Tickets include free popcorn, coffee, and an eggs-and-bacon breakfast buffet if you can make it through to morning.
