Where to Brunch This Weekend – 11/01/13


After a week full of playing dress up, it’s time to sit back and relax. You could take the time to chow down on all that candy you received, but why not check out some sweet brunch deals? We’ve unwrapped a few of the city’s best weekend dining experiences for you. Just don’t go eating them all at once.

Station, 166 North Seventh Street, Brooklyn, Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m.

With a no-limit bottomless brunch ($33) stretching two hours mere steps away from the Bedford L train, Manhattanites can get a Brooklyn buzz going and still be back on the island by midday. The offer is applicable to all brunch entrees (minus one deluxe platter) and comes with a choice of endless mimosas, bloody marys, or sangria. Food here is a hybrid of European and American comfort food with selections like the Station croque and steamed mussels. Find, too, a number of vegan and gluten-free items featured prominently.

Flea Market Bistro, 131 Avenue A, Saturday and Sunday, 9:30 a.m.

The appropriately named Flea Market turns out reasonably priced brunch options that will leave you with some extra cash in your pocket. Most items–like pancakes, croque madams, and eggs florentine–ring in somewhere in the $10 to $15 range, and all entrees include a choice of non-alcoholic beverage. Brunch while you take in the view Tompkins Square Park.

When it comes to sports, sometimes all a place has to do to attract a crowd is lay out a few peanuts and cold beer. Luckily, not all bars think alike. The trend of upscale sports bars offering big meals continues with this Midtown East lair’s new weekend brunch. Fans everywhere now have the ability to cheer and/or cry over items like warm pretzel bites and a grilled PB&J sandwich.

Jane, 100 West Houston Street, Sunday, 10 a.m.

The scene on Houston Street is typically bustling, and nowhere is this more apparent than the line on Sunday outside Jane. The brunch menu here features hearty entrants like a lobster benny (Maine lobster, poached eggs, buttermilk biscuit, spinach, hollandaise) and a farm house egg scramble. A select complimentary cocktail graces the list each week; a recent example: the white peach bellini, poured free with each entree.
