Suspected Serial Armed Robber Orders Smoothie Before Holding Up a Long Island Jamba Juice

Suffolk County Police are seeking a man in connection with eight armed robberies across the county. No one has been harmed in the course of the hold-ups. It’s also unclear how the man escapes after each one — witnesses say he just strolls out. He tends to favor gas stations — one each in Eastport, Calverton, Mastic, North Babylon, St. James, Dix Hills, and Bohemia — but last night the suspect also held up a Jamba Juice in Stony Brook.

Between 5:30 and 6 p.m. on Monday, a man in a black hoodie walked into the Jamba Juice off the Nesconsett-Port Jefferson Highway as if he were a customer, says Scott Borland, owner of the store.

“He basically ordered a smoothie and then kind of scoped the place out. Then he says, ‘Give me the cash’,” explains Borland. “Our manager opened the register and gave him the cash, then [the suspect] just walked out.”

Police describe the man as between the ages of 25 and 35 and between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet 2 inches tall. Usually sporting a dark-colored or gray sweatshirt, the man is of thin to medium build.
