A couple of months ago, we gave you a sneak peek at the beer garden and brewery Rudy Tauscher was building on Bowery. Well, bring out your beer steins and head over to Paulaner Brauhaus NYC (265 Bowery) where the beer is pouring alongside traditional German grub: You’ll find the Munich lager, hefeweizen, and — a winter favorite — Munich dark on tap.
The food menu lists a number of crowd-pleasing dishes; consider the short rib sauerbraten, a German pot roast, jaegerschnitzel, fried veal with forest mushrooms, and kaesespaetzle, which is a bit like a German dumpling version of macaroni and cheese. All of these dishes should keep you warm in the chilly months ahead.
“We’re excited to celebrate the opening of Paulaner Brauhaus NYC throughout the holiday season with our NYC neighbors and visitors from all over the world, ” Tauscher tells us. “This will be a very social and convivial place for guests to relax and socialize with family and friends while enjoying simple quality food and fresh Paulaner beer being brewed right in front of them. Paulaner’s Munch Lager, Munich Dark, and Hefeweizen beers are brewed and ready to serve from tank to tap. Our next beer to brew will be Paulaner’s seasonal holiday beer. We’re looking forward to a a very festive and celebratory opening.”
The seasonal brew hits the tap on December 1, but until then, stop by Paulaner to throw back some pints of quality Deutschland brews.
