Lee Breuer, a founding artistic director of Mabou Mines, recently told The New Yorker that it’s because of his instinct “to work bigger, wider, more flamboyantly” that’s he’s been in debt since he was 16. Indeed, he’s gone all out for La Divina Caricatura. A co-production from St. Ann’s and La MaMa, this tale of a dog who lusts after her master is being billed as a “bunraku puppet pop-opera,” with live music covering a range of styles from 1950s doo-wop to Argentinian tango.
Tuesdays-Sundays, 7:30 p.m. Starts: Dec. 6. Continues through Dec. 22, 2013
