When the then little known filmmaker Peter Jackson released his second horror flick, Dead Alive (originally titled Braindead), in 1992, it was hardly a box office smash. But ever since a certain famous trilogy, this very funny splatter-fest has received praise from critics and gained a cult following. Co-written and directed by Jackson, the story concerns a 25-year-old virgin who is trying to woo a shopkeeper’s daughter while concealing his domineering mother, who has turned into a hungry zombie. Grab a coffee and catch it at a special late night screening at the IFC Center.
